Among the key\nemerging technologies in the area of information technology, three of the major\nones are Artificial Intelligence, Blockchain, and Quantum Computing. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Quantum\nComputing promises unparalleled computing power both in terms of size of the\nproblem and execution time. It is likely to solve problems intractable by\ncombined resources of all conventional computers including supercomputers\ncombined. It is going to have huge impact in multiple sectors like Cybersecurity,\nArtificial Intelligence, Optimization, Finance, Drug Design and many more. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Being more\nnascent technology quantum computing companies have already garnered\ninvestments nearing $1B, but this is aside big corporate and government sector\ninitiatives. Chinese govt. has reportedly $11B initiative into Quantum. The\nlikely annual industrial impact of technology is going to be $25-50B in 10+\nyears, $450-850B in 20+ years (source: BCG). Further it has a lot of strategic\nimplications for governments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The quantum\ncomputing technology may take few years to a decade to mature before making a\nmajor impact owing to the challenges in scaling quantum hardware. However,\naccess to some of these early quantum computers are already available in the\ncloud. Quantum software and APIs are already available to for technologists to\nlearn and play with<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Quantum\ncomputing technology underlies both new hardware and algorithmic paradigm.\nThere are several free and paid online resources available today to know and\nlearn about quantum. Skilling up on Quantum will typically go three phases \u2013\nQuantum Awareness, Quantum Readiness, and Quantum Expertise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Quantum Awareness \u2013 This is mostly for CIOs, CTOs, fund managers, R&D heads and\nnon-techies working in relevant technology sector, who want to understand the\nfield and its likely impact, its limitations and use cases. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
